Welcome to The Fisherman's House

Founded by Perina and Frane Matijević many years ago, The Fisherman’s House has been a cherished retreat for travelers seeking an authentic countryside experience. Today, their son Tonči, alongside his German wife Lisa, continues to nurture and expand upon their legacy, while their daughter Perina now oversees operations as the third generation of the family. With a multilingual team fluent in Croatian, German, English, and Italian, we ensure seamless communication and hospitality for our guests.

The story of The Fisherman’s House dates back to over fifty years ago when the first foreign visitors stumbled upon this idyllic haven. Back then, Tonči’s father, much like Tonči himself, was a fisherman and farmer deeply rooted in the land. In those pioneering days of tourism, guests were embraced as honorary family members, a tradition we proudly uphold to this day. Our commitment to authenticity means that the food served at our table is sourced directly from our fields and the bountiful Adriatic Sea, with wine drawn from our vineyards, crafted with care just a year prior.

Even now, guests are invited to immerse themselves fully in the rhythm of rural life. Early risers can join Tonči for a morning fishing expedition, casting nets at sunrise to capture the day’s freshest catch. At breakfast, diners can select their lunch from the day’s offerings, handpicked from the abundant array of Adriatic fish. Our commitment to sustainability extends to our organic cultivation practices, ensuring that fruits and vegetables are harvested just moments before they grace our guests’ plates.

Our canopied terrace, nestled amidst verdant vineyards and flourishing gardens, serves as both a dining area and communal hub—a space where guests can unwind and savor the simple joys of life in harmony with nature, all while enjoying modern comforts. At The Fisherman’s House, we invite you to embrace the serenity of countryside living, where every moment is a celebration of the land, the sea, and the bonds of family and friendship.
